Monitor-i launches the first wave of its global study on technology monitoring and strategic intelligence in the age of artificial intelligence

Following its official presentation at the 21st ALTEC International Congress 2025 in Chile, the Monitor-i project now enters its first operational phase with the launch of its initial international survey. The survey is addressed to professionals and organisations engaged in technology monitoring and strategic intelligence activities in a context increasingly shaped by the expansion of artificial intelligence.

The aim of the survey is to collect reliable and comparable data on how organisations are adapting their processes for searching, analysing and using strategic information as AI technologies are incorporated. It also seeks to identify levels of maturity, emerging approaches and the main challenges faced when developing intelligence cycle processes.

Understanding a transition in progress

Artificial intelligence is profoundly transforming the way organisations observe their environment, analyse information and support decision-making. However, this transformation in the fields of technology monitoring and intelligence is unfolding unevenly, with very different approaches, speeds and degrees of systematisation across organisations, sectors and countries.

To better understand how this transition is taking place and to capture the diversity of existing practices, Monitor-i is launching the first wave of its survey as part of a broader, periodic study designed to analyse the evolution of monitoring and intelligence practices over time.

A survey designed for those working with strategic information

This first questionnaire is aimed at professionals and organisations from any sector that carry out activities related to technology monitoring, strategic, competitive or market intelligence, regardless of their level of formalisation or maturity. At this initial stage, the focus is on identifying shared barriers and opportunities for improvement.

For this reason, all experiences are valuable, from early-stage practices to well-established systems. Together, they help build a more accurate and comprehensive picture of the current state of these functions in organisations worldwide. They also enable comparative analysis and the formulation of tailored improvement recommendations that reflect the diverse realities of today’s disruptive environment.

Participation is voluntary and anonymous. All responses will be treated confidentially and used exclusively for research purposes, in compliance with data protection regulations and international ethical principles.

What the first wave of the study covers

This first wave of Monitor-i will provide a current snapshot of how organisations are developing technology monitoring and strategic, competitive or market intelligence in a context of rapid AI adoption.

The questionnaire is structured into six concise sections that clearly reflect the main processes of the monitoring and intelligence cycle. It begins with the use of artificial intelligence and then examines how monitoring and intelligence activities are carried out across the stages of planning, information gathering, interpretation and analysis. It concludes with the communication of results and their impact on organisational improvement.

Completing the questionnaire takes approximately 15 minutes. Responses can be saved and resumed later if needed. The survey can be completed on any device (mobile or desktop) and is available in Spanish, Portuguese and English.

From data to shared knowledge

In the next phase of Monitor-i, survey results will be complemented with open-source intelligence analysis using big data and artificial intelligence techniques, with the aim of generating applied knowledge that supports professional and organisational improvement.

This work will contribute to the development of an international map of best practices, as well as an interactive digital platform integrating resources and activities designed to strengthen technology monitoring and strategic intelligence capabilities in the age of artificial intelligence.

This first wave marks the beginning of a collective learning process focused on understanding how organisational intelligence is being transformed in a context of accelerated change.

How to take part

To request participation in the study, simply complete the form available on the Monitor-i website, where access to the questionnaire and all relevant information will be provided:

In addition, participants who complete the questionnaire may choose to receive the practical tutorial “Activate an automatic environmental radar using the Gemini API”, designed to support the development of hands-on capabilities for AI-driven environmental monitoring.
